Sector approaches to media consumption revealed

New media research by elephant reveals people in the arts are the biggest traditional news consumers.

Peo­ple that work in music and the Arts are the biggest con­sumers of news from tra­di­tion­al sources, such as nation­al TV sta­tions and the nation­al press – although those in the trav­el and tourism indus­try spend the most time news gath­er­ing and from the broad­est range of sources dur­ing the typ­i­cal week, accord­ing to new research.

The find­ings are from new media research by ele­phant, which explores now peo­ple con­sume and react to the news and the media they choose to engage with. For sum­mer 2025, the research has explored the media habits of peo­ple that work in dif­fer­ent indus­try sec­tors and the find­ings revealed a range of inter­est­ing and var­ied typolo­gies that are spe­cif­ic to each sector.

The sec­tors explored includ­ed: The Pub­lic sec­tor, music and the Arts, pro­fes­sion­al ser­vices, finan­cial ser­vices, retail, tech, hos­pi­tal­i­ty, food and trav­el. The full report will be avail­able to clients at the end of June.
