Community investment

elephant communications is serious about making a real and meaningful contribution to the society that we are a part of.

A million miles away from spin, we are a consultancy that believes in authenticity, not just in the services we provide but also in making a positive contribution to society. Our community investment programme comprises five areas of activity where we commit our time and skills to put something back into society.

1. Free help for small businesses start-ups

They are the backbone to our economy, but many don’t feel confident when it comes to publicising their ventures - and most cannot afford to advertise. Having run free small business advice days for two years, our people now produce and run an award-winning small business show on local radio, giving start-ups the opportunity on air to tell their story and learn media and communication skills. To date we have given our time freely to help more than 200 small business owners during their vital first steps.

2. Supporting conservation

Every year we help charities and social enterprises supporting elephant conservation at a critical time. For the next two years we are sponsoring the ‘Vanishing Fast’ category at the David Shepherd ‘Wildlife Artist of the Year Awards’ – building on our heritage of supporting conservation through art and creativity.

3. Backing the performing arts

In addition to conservation, we ring fence a further 3% of our annual net profits to support community outreach projects in the arts – specifically education projects, immersive events that support social mobility and regional touring that takes world class performance to new audiences.

4. University debates

Every year, we invest time to give university lectures around the country, presenting our market research and knowledge sharing as we contribute to debates with academics and postgraduates.

Within a small amount of time, the elephant team has made my small business feel like a big, national business. The elephant team is fully aware of how small businesses operate and it’s been great to get access to the kind of quality advice that big business enjoys. Liz Leatherdale, MD of Colchester Classics
